Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you are planning on travelling distance to attractions, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

Frome Museum

Frome Museum can be found in the centre of the town in the very distinctive Literary Institution building. It has fascinating collections, many of which are of national importance, with two main display rooms (entered off North Parade). These show a wide range of local history, a changing exhibition and a shop. There is also an archive collection which can be accessed by appointment and a Library with a wealth of local information, books, images and maps.
The Museum Library is open to researchers every Tuesday from 10am to 2pm. Researchers are strongly advised to contact the museum by email, post or telephone in advance of their visit to arrange an appointment. In special circumstances an appointment may be made on other days. It would be extremely helpful if researchers could give brief details of their research when making an appointment as often our volunteers may be able to find documents and photographs in advance of your visit.
The Museum and Library are run entirely by volunteers and we receive no support from the local authorities. There is no admission charge. Please help to keep admission free by making a donation which can be enhanced if you sign a Gift Aid Declaration.
